I was so excited to buy the new Scandal Eyes liquid eyeliner by Rimmel as I’d read about it in a couple of mags and all the reviews were glowing. So imagine my disappointment when I took it home and tried it out and it was less than impressive!
It’s touted as having a “3D slanted tip” to be able to draw either a thick or thin line, depending on which way you hold it. I didn’t find this feature at all helpful, maybe that just shows you my make-up skills, or lack thereof. I like the fact it’s a pen so it’s super easy to use, it’s just that the nib is so dry and it takes a couple of applications to build up any colour. Applying it wasn’t so fun then, as the nib felt rather scratchy against my eyelid – ouch! I did try it out a couple of times as I thought it may need to break in and the ink would flow but not so. Did I get a faulty one? I don’t know, let’s just say skip this product when you’re looking for your next liquid liner. It’s sad as I love Rimmel.
Rest assured this post isn’t all tears and tantrums as the two lip products I bought I absolutely adore; Nivea Lip Butter in Vanilla & Macadamia and Covergirl Lip Perfection Jumbo Gloss Balm in Blush Twist.
The jumbo lip gloss couldn’t have come at a better time as my favourite Clinique chubby stick is almost kaput, and this product totally reminds me of that. It has shea and mango butters so it’s really soft and glossy and very easy to apply, so easy I don’t even use my compact to pop it on. The colour is an adorable baby pink and can be worn during the day if you’re not a fan of bright lips when the sun is out (personally that’s not me). At the moment it retails for $12.95 from Priceline, which I thought wasn’t too bad.
My ultimate favourite though is the Nivea lip butter. I’ve been using the moisturiser in the blue tin for so many years now that it’s part of my DNA, I love it. And this lip butter will soon be the same. It really has been moisturising and nourishing my sad, old cracked lips while I’ve had this cold (oh yeah, I’m a tad sickly!) so much so that it truly deserves an award. If you’re prone to cracked lips like I am I highly recommend this.
I’d like to know if anyone else has tried the Scandal Eyes liquid liner and liked it. Is it just me, should I give it one more chance?
