Cab selfie = cabfie?
What’s that saying? If anything could go wrong it will! First it was my sister having a wardrobe malfunction (and perhaps a little meltdown, which all worked out in the end), then I almost forgot the tickets, then it looked as if the trains weren’t running AND THEN my dress completely blew up exposing all my intimates to my local high street!! Maybe it had something to do with wearing a peacock print?!
Pre-race latte
Alas after all the shenanigans Saturday turned out to be a smashing day for this years’ Crown Golden Ale Caulfield Cup. It was my first time out to Caulfield Racecourse and I was super excited to see all the gorgeous gals out in their frocks and hats (and of course the gents looking dapper in their suits). The girls and I got all gussied up, guzzled sipped our champers and had a great day out. Nobody really backed a winner, but we all went home with our dignities intact – that’s the main thing right?!
My OOTD was an oldie but a goodie. I was determined to stay true to my No Spend September vow of not shopping big ‘il the end of the year, so I up-cycled an old dress from my collection – one I wore to the Fashion Aid Ball last year. This fab number cost me all of $40 from my trip to Bali about three years ago. I teamed it with a new flower crown from Lovisa (only $20) plus my mint heels and purple clutch from Kmart – a fabulous race-day outfit for under $100.
We also managed to catch the final of the Fashions on the Field competition with Crystal Kimber (3rd photo) taking out the top spot. She mixed some high-end pieces with a skirt she made herself. A really beautiful ensemble but I was hoping the dress in the middle (Red Lips anyone?!) would win. There were some truly gorgeous outfits which I’m hoping to take some inspiration from for the next set of race days.
Caulfield Cup was a great introduction to my Spring carnival season 2014. As always there was some fabulous people watching and some amazing outfits, also some terrible ones too! Now it’s time to get my next ensemble together for Derby Day – GIDDY UP!!
