How is the first month of the year already drawing to a close? I always feel like January is the “warm-up” month where you don’t really take things too seriously. Usually I’ve had a break over Christmas and then I get back to work and before you know it we have the Australia Day public holiday and things are cruising along nicely and then BAM! shits about to get real. It’s February and that means BIZNESS and time to start putting all those big plans into action.
But when the weather has been as lovely as it has been it still feels like party season in my books (when ISN’T it party season?). Especially since there are so many birthdays in my family at this time of year. Last weekend we had a fabulous surprise party for my sister in law’s mum’s (keeping up?) 70th. The gorgeous lady had no idea and we all had a ball surprising her with streamers and silly string as she walked through the door. FUN! It was a lovely day playing with my sweet little nieces and eating traditional Colombian fare. I was introduced to patacones, which are fried plantains – OH EM GEEEEEE! I’m in lurve!
Seeing as it was a simple backyard party I thought my new hibiscus and feather print dress would be perfection on a hot summers day. This gorgeous tunic is from local design label, Finding Fi. It’s stocked through Mico, a fabulous little boutique in Melbourne I’ve been shopping in for about a thousand years (OK, maybe like 10 years!) and it was a steal for $59.95. I love being able to inject some cash back into my local community and being able to support up and coming designers.
To finish off my easy as pie OOTD I teamed the dress with my comfy Nine West sandals, some chunky pink jewellery and a pair of Cotton On sunnies. There you have it, an OOTD fit for abuela’s surprise party!
