Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor is without a doubt one enormously fierce female. If you haven’t heard of her listen up! Jill was, and still is, a well respected neuroanatomist (a fancy way to say a brain doctor/scientist) when one morning in 1996 she woke up to discover she was having a rare form of stroke and being a brain doctor knew exactly what was happening!
Days later she had to have major brain surgery to remove a massive golf ball sized clot that was placing pressure on the left hemisphere of her brain. Amazingly, after eight long years of therapy Jill managed to rebuild her brain and has written a fabulous memoir about her experience; My Stroke of Insight: A Brain Scientist’s Personal Journey. This book is a great read if you’re interested in exercising your brain and learning how all the circuitry works.
“I believe the more time we spend running the deep inner peace circuitry of our right brain, then the more peace we will project into the world, and ultimately the more peace we will have on the planet.”
This Sunday I toast Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor, a truly remarkable and fierce female who has embraced a second chance at life and continues to help others find their way back from neurological trauma, a cause very close to my heart!
