I’ve said it before but there’s something so magical and glorious about reading books and this is especially true of the Harry Potter series! I stumbled upon the wondrous wizard when I was living in Japan. Our communal living area had a bookshelf that had the first four (the only ones published at the time) and I kept passing over them as I thought they were kiddie books, but boy was I pleasantly surprised! I think I read each one twice over because I couldn’t get enough of Ms Rowling’s fun and fabulous characters.
J.K.’s story is one of a positively fierce female and makes me believe that we can all achieve anything we set our minds to. From being a struggling single mother who dabbled in writing and was told to get a day job because she didn’t have a chance of making money writing children’s books (HA!) to being one of the most well known and loved authors and most powerful celebrities of our time.
This Sunday I raise my wand and toast J.K. Rowling, a fabulously imaginative woman whose writing prowess and talent I wish I had an inch of! If only she were my patronus 🙂
