Ever since little Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana (you all know I love the royals!) was born I’m feeling the need to wear a little something reminiscent of the English countryside. Especially since the weather is cooling right down at the moment and reminding me of my time spent in Old Blighty!
I remember one morning when I was living in Nottingham and I was about to leave to go to work and my street was covered in snow. I squealed in delight and ran back upstairs to grab my camera and my house mate was confused as to why I was excited by the snow. It never snows in Melbourne (aside from that one time in 1986 when a small flurry blew in and we got to go out and make TINY snowmen in the playground). Thankfully it doesn’t get as cold here as it does in the UK, but some mornings it feels that way.
I’ve been having a love affair with houndstooth for a few years now so when I spotted this high-waisted 3/4 skirt from Kmart I knew I just had to have it. It has an elasticated waist and a lovely woollen-esque feel to it that is perfect for the cooler weather.
Of course no visit with the Queen would be complete without some gloves! These adorable marsala (hey, I know they’re maroon but I’m going with the whole Pantone colour of the year thing) gloves are from H&M and were a birthday gift from my sister.
To complete my English rose transformation *ahem* I’ve added this gorgeous clutch which was another birthday gift from my bro and SIL from their travels to Myanmar (Burma). I love the pop of colour and details in it and it’s just the right size to stash some lippy, purse, phone and keys. And of course the nude shoe! In true Kate Middleton style I’ve popped on my Nine West nudes to finish the look.
The constant zhuzh’ing of my hair! The struggle for volume is real
What do you think of the gorgeous little new princess’ name? I’m so delighted that they gave her Diana as a middle name, but I was really hoping they’d call her Rose!
