What’s that saying, size doesn’t matter? Or is it it’s not the size of the boat yadda yadda yadda? Well let me tell you, size DOES matter!.. When we’re talking about mascara, that is.
I was so excited, and a little sad, opening up the last item in my US 2014 Sephora/Ulta stash – Too Faced Size Queen mascara. I couldn’t wait to whip this big boy out and use it but I think I was a little hasty and maybe a little size-ist when I bought it. I’ve always thought the bigger the wand the better the coverage but I may have been mistaken.
Let’s just say I was overwhelmed *ahem* by the sheer size of the wand. It’s at least double the size of regular wands and boy is it FAT! As you can see in the pic below the wand is huge compared to my eye which makes it a little tough to manoeuvre around the lashes. With the huge “dual-helix brush” I couldn’t manage to get right into the root of my lashes and build up a nice thick base as I usually do.
With all that in mind I actually really like this mascara. I’m able to build up the layers without my lashes coming off looking like spider legs, which is huge considering my long, Bambi lashes. I probably wouldn’t recommend it to those lasses who have shorter lashes as I just can’t see how you’d get it in (SORRY I HAD TO!)
Size Queen (US$21) isn’t as volumising as my fave L’Oreal Miss Manga mascara but it still does a great job. The formula lasts all day and there’s no smudging by 5pm which is fabulous. This will definitely get used but I don’t think I’ll re-buy this on my next Sephora haul.
WHOA! EXTREME CLOSE UP!!!
