L’Oreal Pro Matte Foundation Review

loreal pro matte foundation2

Infallible –

adjective

2. unfailing in effectiveness or operation; certain

Hmmmmm not too sure L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation was named correctly! I so wanted this to be THE ONE but sadly it just wasn’t. I’d read so many positive reviews for Infallible that I had to go out and grab a tube and try it out myself. Y’all know I love a bargain and have no qualms spending less for foundation but the older I get it seems my skin only likes the expensive stuff – damn my skins expensive tastes!
Right off the bat I noticed that it was very quick drying. I’d squeezed a small amount onto the back of my hand for a swatch (below) and after less than a minute it had already started drying out. I tried to work quickly with a damp Beauty Blender which helped a little but I still felt like it didn’t blend too well. I was aware that it was demi/medium coverage foundation but I was expecting it to cover more than it did. I felt like it way too patchy.

The other annoying thing was that out of the 11 colours to choose from I picked the wrong one! (105 Natural Beige – see below, way too orange for my skin tone) GRRRR! I would have been extra pissed off if I bought this in Australia as it retails for $29.95 at Priceline, but being the fabulous tight ass that I am I bought this in the U.S. at CVS for approx. $13 so I don’t feel sooooo bad about not using it again. I’ve read so many glowing reviews about Infallible that I feel kinda duped by it. Has anyone else used L’Oreal Infallible foundation and if so are you a fan? Should I try again with a colour that matches better or should I just count my losses?

P.S. if this is your colour match I’d be happy to send this out to you!

  1. I’m not sure I’d try it again. If you don’t really like the formula either (besides just the super orange color… yikes!). And I CANNOT believe a Loreal foundation is $30 for you guys. I totally underestimated overseas markups!

    • I think I’ll just cut my losses – the oompa loompa face has put me off LOL! Oh yeah, mark up on makeup down under is so ridiculous! Now you know why I go nuts when I’m in the States 🙂 x

  2. Awww.. It really does look too orange on you. I think I only tried 1 foundation from L’oreal my whole life and I wasn’t even pleased. I prefer revlon’s when it comes to drug store foundations.

    • Thanks Lauren, I try to think I’m helping ladies save some time and money by learning from my mistakes, but more often than not I love the products I review so I think I’m making everyone a lot poorer LOL!!
Thank you, having a bit of a love/hate relationship with my hair at the mo so that’s nice to hear 🙂 xo

  3. Aw that’s unfortunate that it didn’t work out for you. I really love this foundation, but everyone’s skin is different. When I find that it’s a little bit drying for me, I mix it in with a foundation that’s way too dewy for me as I have oily skin. So maybe that would help? You could mix it in with a foundation you currently have that’s too light in color and has a more moisturizing finish. Hmmm
