I know this Sunday’s Fierce Female doesn’t need an introduction but y’all should be bowing down to this French goddess as Ms Gabrielle Bonhuer Chanel (that’s Coco to you and me) is credited as banishing the corset from every day women’s wear and bringing in the casual, relaxed look. HURRAH!
With her dreams of being a stage star dashed Coco turned to designing hats and became a licensed milliner with a store in Paris in 1910. She then went on to design casual, sports wear which then in turn became one of the first fashion boutiques at the time, selling everything from clothing, accessories and fragrances. In time it has gone on to be one of the biggest fashion houses with everyone recognising the twinned Cs.
This Sunday I raise my diamantes and toast Coco and her fabulous legacy of gorgeous designs!
“It’s disgusting to walk around with millions around the neck because one happens to be rich. I only like fake jewellery … because it’s provocative.”
– Coco Chanel
