Remember that moment you saw David Bowie as the Goblin King in The Labyrinth when you were a kid (or as an adult) and you had mixed feelings of being absolutely scared of him and having a weird feelings down there?? No, just me?! Well ever since that moment in the mid-80s I’ve had a huge fascination with him and think he’s the cat’s pyjamas (or is diamond dog more appropriate?).
Melbourne has been lucky enough to have the fabulous David Bowie Is… exhibition grace our lovely city since July and to say I’ve been excited to see it would be an understatement! It’s an amazing exhibition that encapsulates Bowie’s amazing 50 year career spanning from Ziggy Stardust to playing Warhol in Basquiat and beyond and showcases it all with handwritten lyric sheets, rare film, video and photographs, interviews and an array of to-die-for costumes! Alas, like most exhibitions I wasn’t allowed to take pics inside (don’t they know who I am?) so I’ve made a little collage from images I’ve found on the ‘net that are from the exhibition…
David Bowie Is… a musician, an actor, a trendsetter, an icon, a legend!
Are you a Bowie fan? Make sure to get down to ACMI at Federation Square and check out the exhibition as it runs only ’til the 1st of November, so you don’t have too much longer to check it out!
What’s your favourite song? Rebel Rebel would have to be mine, there’s something about that jangly guitar intro that gets me EVERY time!
