Fierce Females: Elizabeth Taylor

elizabeth taylorThose amazing violet eyes

You can’t get much fiercer than a dame, let alone a dame who was Cleopatra! After a 62 year career, eight marriages, two Academy Awards and a jewellery collection worth approximately $150 million nobody can dispute Elizabeth Taylor put the F in FIERCE!

Dame Liz had an amazing acting career starting at the age of 9 where she appeared in There’s One Born Every Minute.  Throughout her illustrious career she starred in over 70 roles most notably in Butterfield 8 and Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? for which she won her Oscars.

OK, yes – there’s no denying she was an amazing actress, but can we go back to her amazing love of jewellery and fashion?! She reportedly wore a 33 carat diamond every day! CAN I GET AN AMEN? She also had a fragrance line House of Taylor which has brought out 13 perfumes to date.

Alas, after a fabulously colourful life riddled with many health issues as well as prescription drug and alcohol addiction Dame Liz died in 2011 at the age of 79 due to heart failure.

A true Hollywood icon, this Sunday I toast Dame Elizabeth Taylor! She was a “movie queen with no ego… an expert at what she does and uncatty in her work relationships with other actresses“. – Gloria Steinem

  1. Definitely an old school star in every sense, and I think also the first celeb to take up fundraising for and awareness of AIDS/HIV. Very fierce.

  2. Effing loved Aunty Liz! I loved how unashamedly glamorous she was, and how fabulous and incredible she was as a role model. P.s. that last photo? I’m totes wearing that to sit on the couch and watch telly tomorrow xo
