Holy shit, how can I start off this month’s Lately post without mentioning Prince right off the bat?! Ummmm WTF?! I just saw him in concert 2 months ago and what did I say then… “It was ridiculously expensive and very short, but the way these rock stars are dying around us I didn’t want to chance not seeing him again!” FUCK! Did I curse the Purple One? I can tell you I was in shock most of Friday when I heard of his passing and there was definitely some ugly crying going on. The world has really lost a true musical genius. Vale Prince!
A couple of weeks ago I travelled to Tasmania in what has become an annual girls’ trip to watch the footy and basically have a mini vacay. For the first time we picked a great time of year to go! The weather was just gorgeous and we weren’t freezing our asses of as we usually do. Tasmania was doing autumn like a boss! I was taken away with all the amazing colours of the leaves in all their changing glory.
Of course there was plenty of champers flowing and we had some really yummy meals out and managed a spot of Uno. I haven’t played in ages and it was so much fun to get the competitive spirit going before breakfast.
During the month my team had a little reshuffle in our office and I moved desks and the view, to say the least, is pretty awesome. I have a window seat which I’m just stoked about, it’s only taken me like 6 years of working with the same company to get it! Having the afternoon sun stream in across my computer makes me feel so refreshed and I really do feel more awake at the end of the day.
Last month I mentioned that I received a Fitbit for my birthday and this little bastard is now ruling my life! I’m taking daily walks through the park next door to my office, on top of my usual fitnessing, and it really is a game changer. It’s a nice little afternoon reprieve from sitting down all day and I mean you can’t be upset with scenery like this right?…
I’ve been on a quest for a new beauty sponge ever since falling in love with the Beauty Blender. Since I don’t go into the city very often on the weekends I haven’t been able to get into Sephora and grab a new one so I wanted a knock-off option. Hmmm how many ways can I say NO, JUST NO?! I’ve tried 3 different ones and they’ve all been SHIT! The Beauty Blender IS really made from unicorn tears and nothing can match it. Thankfully my sis bought me some new ones while she was in Sydney so I’m back in the game.
Once again, reading has been slooooow going this month, I have no good excuses and really need to devote some more time to it. I managed to finish The Talisman by Stephen King and Peter Straub which was epic and have now started The Natural Way Of Things by Charlotte Wood and holy shit, it’s not what I thought it would be! Have you read it?? It’s a definite page turner.
I took a week off from the blog again this month to recharge my batteries. I’ve learnt not to beat myself up about it and just go with it. I have a million and one ideas when it comes to posts but sometimes I just CBF and I’d rather not write anything than churn out a piece of shit, you know what I mean? I’m sure you all don’t mind that I go a little MIA on the blog from time to time (in fact, you probably don’t even notice haha!).
As always, there has been so many cool blog posts I’ve read over the past month…
- I’m not a huge fan of camping (where would I plug in my iPhone?) but I so want to go glamping here! Doesn’t it sound divine?
- We all know that I’m a food whore and if it were an Olympic sport I could totally eat for Oz! This classic Croque Madame recipe just about makes me want to wet my pants…YUM!!!
- How cute are these DIY hair clips? Can somebody please make them for me because we all know I’m all thumbs when it comes to this sort of stuff.
- I’m new to Snapchat and love these 9 handy hints on being a Snapchat Pro, I love the idea of creating a remote control from headphones.
How has your April been dollface?
