Dine With Heart x BUA Bloggers Dinner Soirée

Radio Mexico, St Kilda

By now you all know that the combination of Mexican food + bloggers talking shop + tequila + charity = Rosie’s ideal night out! And that’s just what went down last Friday night at the Dine With Heart x BUA Bloggers Dinner at Radio Mexico in St. Kilda.

bua x dine with heart dinner_menuThe gorgeous girls at Bloggers United AU hosted a dinner to raise awareness for the Sacred Heart Mission and their Dine With Heart cause this May. The Sacred Heart Mission started back in 1982 and they do an absolutely super job of feeding the homeless and those living in poverty every day of the year. This amazing charity manages to serve 400 free meals a day and they need our help! Each meal costs approx. $4 to make (that’s $1,600 a day – I did the maths, well, I used my calculator) and this is all with the support of the generous community. This year they’re hoping to raise $15,000 to keep the Mission’s Meals Program running.

More than 60 restaurants across Melbourne CBD and St. Kilda are participating in the Dine with Heart program by encouraging customers to add a small donation to their bill, and one of those amazing restaurants happens to be Radio Mexico!

Our intimate dinner party kicked off with this DEEEE-licious chili popcorn margarita! It packed just the right amount of punch to whet our appetites for the amazing feast we had is store. As you can see from our menu (above) we were spoilt with some scrumptious food throughout the evening. Every dish was so tasty and my personal stand outs were the Chilaquiles Rojos (ah-mazing nachos) and the Elotes which is just good ol’ corn, but like a bajillion times tastier than anything I can make!!

We were also spoilt by Tequila Tromba who had given us these three amazing different varieties of tequila to taste test. Being a tequila lover I was in heaven!! I was also fascinated to learn that just like champagne, tequila made outside the region in Mexico shouldn’t be called tequila. Unfortunately our lovely host from Tequila Tromba didn’t have an alternative name for it so I shall be referring to it all by “Mexican Fire Water” from now on.

I had a superb night out meeting new blogger friends who I can stalk, eating and drinking some amazing fare and learning about a super worthy cause. If you’re a local Melburnian and want to pitch in and donate here’s a list of all the great restaurants that are participating in Dine With Heart.
