For the first time ever there were TWO colours announced as Pantone Color of the Year 2016; Rose Quartz and Serenity. Last year I said my pick would be a tie between neon pink and teal, do you think the good people at Pantone read A Red Lip And A Nude Shoe and stole my idea?? Okay, so Rose Quartz isn’t quite neon pink and Serenity is a paler shade of blue BUT HELLO I basically said blue and pink!
I’m a huge fan of this year’s colour picks as I think dusty pink and pale blue are super feminine and very flattering on everyone. I wasn’t sure how they’d play as an ensemble but after popping this outfit together I definitely dig the marriage of the two shades.
Joined together Rose Quartz and Serenity demonstrate an inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue, reflecting connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace. – Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director, Pantone Color Institute
I’m all for individuality and adding your own flair to an outfit, but there’s something so lovely about a little prompt (say, from Pantone) to help steer you in the right direction. Y’all know I love a wardrobe challenge and I’ve been itching to do another one this year and HURRAH I’ve found one! So stay tuned this July for another 30 Day Wardrobe challenge.
Are you a fan of the two picks for the Pantone Color of the Year? What would you have picked? I’m reluctant to say as Pantone may be reading this again *ahem*…. but here goes, my prediction for next year is peacock green!
