Sunday Sessions; The Soundtrack to My Life – Janet Jackson

Janet Jackson

Janet and not Michael, I hear you ask? Yes dollface, I will always and forever be Team Janet over Team Michael any day of the week! I know Michael Jackson was apparently the King of Pop but I was never sold by him, unless we’re talking about The Jackson 5 and even then I think his brothers carried him #SorryNotSorry

For me, Janet was always the coolest of the Jackson clan because 1) she was the baby of the family (youngest kids unite!) 2) she was on Diff’rent Strokes and 3) mad choreography in her videos! Give me a fat beat and a group of people dancing in formation and I am hooked.

With her third album, Control in 1986, the world knew she was a force to be reckoned with and wasn’t just anyone’s little sister. With the release of  janet almost a decade later Miss Jackson became the 90s IT girl and had the world in the palm of her hand. After that she kinda lost it for me with the fake “wardrobe malfunctions” (controversial theory) and The Nutty Professor II (steaming pile of shit), but we’ll always have THAT Rolling Stone cover.

Miss Jackson if you’re nasty!

I was lucky enough to see Janet in concert in around 1994 and I remember being blown away by this song and all the dancers. Happy Sunday dollface, turn the speakers up and get ready to twerk it and enjoy!

  1. I never knew she was on “What you talkin’ about Willis?” Diff’rent Strokes. Loved that when I was younger. I read somewhere about the curse of that show, and what befell the actors that were in it.

Now it's your turn...let me know what you think. I love reading your comments! :)
